Youth Pastor Edie La Lander was born in Port Angeles, WA and moved with her family to Quilcene when she was only three months old. Growing up extremely shy, she had never even been in a church until her mom took her when Edie was eight years old. In her own words she speaks of that experience:
“I don’t remember a lot of the details, but I do remember sitting in a kid’s church service. The person who was speaking told us that there was someone who would never leave us, would always love us, and wanted to be our friend. This caught my attention. I really wanted a friend who would stick by me and love me no matter what. That day, I found my friend. His name is Jesus.”
After I asked Jesus in my heart, life didn’t really change for me. I was still really shy, and kids still teased me. But, something was different. Jesus was there for me. A few years later, God revealed to me that He wanted me to serve Him in the church for the rest of my life.”
Though Edie’s shyness continued, and she had other struggles to deal with through her high school years, she graduated from High School and then went on to Northwest College, graduating with BA in Children’s Ministry in 2001, and then obeyed the Lord when He told her to move back home.
